Welcome to Tekili Farm

Hello you beautiful people! Welcome to Tekili Farm. As I always say, this is my happy place and I am delighted to share it with many friends both old and new. I am at my happiest when I am sitting by the fireplace with some friends, surrounded by good food and wine while sharing life stories. So, grab your wine, let’s dive into my story about how Tekili Farm came about.

I was born and raised in Durban, built my career in Johannesburg and worked for over 25 years in the IT industry as a dedicated, passionate, successful, and well-rounded sales professional. I was lucky enough to have spent a large portion of my life exploring all corners of the world. However, I kept finding myself being drawn back to the Western Cape, specifically Hermanus. A little seaside town that is famously known for stealing peoples’ hearts, I don’t understand how I took so long to get here.

I got to a point in my life where I started thinking about my time left here on this beautiful rock we call home and I decided that I wanted my family and me to live a life that is more connected, more present and more sustainable. After the fast-paced corporate lifestyle in Joburg, I made it my mission to create a legacy for myself and my children that was focused on going back to our roots, living off the land, respecting nature and appreciating the beauty this country has to offer.

I have always wanted to live on a farm and be totally off-grid and self-reliant. Therefore, I did exactly that. One sunny afternoon, while I was on holiday in Hermanus, I went for lunch at one of my local favourites, The Quayside Cabin, and treated myself to some seafood and good wine. Instead of sitting there enjoying the view of the harbour like most people, I sat there sketching my dream house on the back of a napkin. I remember this day vividly as it was the pinnacle turning point of my life. It was there that I decided I was to make the move and trust the change I knew I needed to make.

And so, the idea of Tekili Farm was born. I got to work straight away. I designed, built, and I currently maintain a 74-Hectares self-sufficient farm powered by solar energy on a remote, mountainside located in the Heaven and Earth Valley in Overberg. We have fresh water straight out of the mountain and I continue to work towards a more sustainable lifestyle in every aspect.

Now as I sit here on my patio with the mountain range stretched out in front of me, I can’t help but feel grateful. I am grateful that I had the opportunity to build my dream and legacy. I am grateful that I get to share it with my kids. And now I am grateful that I get to share it with people from all walks of life. So tonight, I raise my glass to toast: to being happy, to being grateful and to the moments that have turned to cherished memories here on Tekili Farm.

Cheers!
